Referendum to be decided upon in 15 days

The signatures collected for holding a referendum on Moldova's accession to the Eurasian Economic Community were submitted to the Central Electoral Committee (CEC). According to a communiqué from the CEC, 232,094 signatures were submitted, Info-Prim Neo reports.
In order to ensure an efficient activity and transparency in the signature examination process, the CEC appointed a commission of signature lists reception, and 8 work groups. Under the Election Code, the CEC must finish verifying the authenticity of the signatures and reach a decision in 15 days from submission.
The initiative group was supposed to submit at least 200,000 signatures till July 20 in order for the CEC to be able to forward the referendum request to Parliament.
