Referendum in mid-June

A local referendum on the dismissal of the mayor will take place in Seliste village of Orhei district on June 15. Such a decision was taken by the Central Election Commission (CEC) on April 30, IPN reports.

According to a communiqué from the commission, the dismissal of mayor Vasile Scripnic was proposed by a group of villagers. The CEC set up the Seliste electoral district and approved the plan of action for organizing and holding the local referendum of June 15.

The local authorities of Seliste and the parties represented in Parliament will put forward their candidates for working on the electoral council of the Seliste electoral district, while the local mayor’s office will compile the basic electoral rolls for holding the plebiscite.

Earlier, the CEC decided that a similar local referendum will be held in Cneazevca village of Leova district on May 11. The same day, new local elections to elect the local council will take place in Cealic village of Taraclia district.
