Referendum failed as voter turnout was 30.29%
The constitutional referendum held in Moldova on September 5 failed. The final results made public by the Central Election Commission (CEC) on September 9 show the turnout of voters was 30.29%. The referendum threshold is 1/3 of the voters, Info-Prim Neo reports.
As many as 818,429 persons of the 2,721,623 people eligible to vote took part in the plebiscite. The results will be submitted to the Constitutional Court so that it can declare the referendum invalid.
Also today, the CEC has adopted a decision on the electoral registers. Under it, by the deadline for compiling the lists, the local public authorities are to include all the persons who turned 18 by that day and remove those who have died.
