The so-called red security alert was changed for yellow alert in the Transnistrian region as from May 25 until June 8. The Reintegration Policies Bureau said that even if the alert level was lowered, the restrictive measures, the measures to step up the activity of different bodies and to intensely inspections at different infrastructure facilities, units of transport and persons were amplified, IPN reports.
Among the ordered measures are the mandatory registration of citizens when these cross the so-called Transnistrian checkpoints, setting up of spot checks at the entrance to towns in the region, stepping up of detailed checks with special technical means on units of transport that enter or leave the region, including those that are in bus and railway terminals on the left side of the Nistru and in the municipality of Bender.
“The introduced restrictive measures generate concern as such impediments do not persist and are not instituted on the left side of the Nistru with regard to inhabitants of the Transnistrian region. As the national responsible authorities cannot intervene in the area that is temporarily outside their control in case of eventual incidents, the unjustified trips in the region, which can generate risks of legal limitation of guaranteed rights and universal freedoms, should be avoided, “the Bureau noted in a press release.
