Salaries of rectors of universities managed by the Education Ministry will be approved by education institutions’ senates, as provided by an order signed by Education Minister Maia Sandu, IPN reports.

The order was made based on the regulations concerning the functioning of the state higher education establishments in conditions of financial autonomy. The education institutions’ category and the pay grades will be taken into account when setting the salaries. Senates’ decisions will be published on the websites of every institution.

The universities switched to an autonomous financial system on January 1, 2013.
