Rectors Council urges parliamentary groups to reach compromise
The Rectors Council of Moldova called upon the parliamentary groups to reach a compromise and elect the head of state so as to avoid new elections. “The non-election of the President of Moldova will have a negative impact on the image and credibility of Moldova at the foreign level,” the Council says in a statement, Info-Prim Neo reports.
The rectors urge the parliamentary parties to take into account the interests of the voters and of the whole society. “The blocking of the election of the head of state and the holding of new elections will inevitably lead to a general political apathy and greater distrust in the political class and state institutions,” the statement says.
The Rectors Council represents 26 universities with more than 120,000 students taught by about 10,000 professors.
