Several young men who joined the Armed Forces of the Republic of Moldova took the oath of the young soldier to defend their motherland, people and nation in front of the monument to Stefan cel Mare (Stefan the Great), as part of the Recruit’s Day, celebrated today. The campaign for recruiting future soldiers is launched every year, on May 6. Deputy Minister of Defense Igor Malai , wished the recruits an easy military service as well as to keep themselves ready to fulfill their duty to defend their country. According to the quoted source, the fulfillment of the military service is the supreme proof of the respect for the country and a sacred honour each citizen of the country has to assume. Igor Malai encouraged the young men to enroll to Moldova’s Military because, as he puts it, this is the only way a young man can develop both his physical and spiritual abilities. Moreover, due to the fact that Moldova aims at the integration to the European Union, young soldiers should learn to gain as many knowledge and skills which would correspond to the European level. The Deputy Minister emphasized on the fact that the military should be ready to cover a wide range of activities, from defending the country to solving problems of the society by displaying civic activism in case of calamity. Anatol Costica, veteran of the war on the Nistru River, stated that even though Moldova is a peaceful state, it needs the Army and its well trained soldiers in order to be ready to intervene in a conflict situation any time. In the context, he mentioned that Moldova should have a well-arranged military base in order to keep pace with the rapid transformation characteristic to our epoch of globalism, but also to be prepared to face the dangers related to world terrorism. Deputy Mayor Nistor Grozavu, who also attended the event, saluted the willingness of the young men to choose the path of Military Service. The official wished them an easy military service and a lot of performances in this field. On the occasion of the Recruit’s Day, a concert will be held at Dynamo Stadium in Chisinau.
