A record number of Ukrainian refugee children was registered in the schools of Chisinau municipality this year. As many as 1,353 students were enrolled in the 151 educational institutions of the capital city, IPN reports.
“We are applying a new model of integration of refugee children at “Taras Shevchenko” Secondary School where, in four classes, native Ukrainian teachers teach subjects in Ukrainian,” Chisinau deputy mayor Angela Kutasevich said in the ordinary meeting of officials of municipal services.
For his part, the deputy head of the General Division of Education, Youth and Sports Andrei Pavaloi said that, according to preliminary data, a total of 10,354 students were enrolled in the first grade this year, while 4,953 were admitted to the tenth grade.
Taking into account the increase in the number of COVID-19 cases, an order was issued for compliance with all sanitary norms, both by teachers and staff, as well as by students and their parents, noted Andrei Pavaloi.
