As many as 406 cases of COVID-19 were confirmed in Moldova on June 11. This is a record high so far. Twenty of those who tested positive today are healthcare workers. The total number of infections now stands at 10,727, IPN quoted Konstantin Rymish, secretary of state at the Ministry of Health, as saying in a press briefing.
A total of 1,802 tests were done today and 1,399 of them were primary tests.
As many as 339 infected persons are currently in a serious state and 23 of them were put on a ventilator. Four persons succumbed to the disease today.
According to Konstantin Rymish, the epidemiological situation is alarming and the population should not ignore the protection measures recommended by the authorities. The resumption of economic activities should not mean relaxation of the precautionary measures.
Sergiu Golovaci, secretary of state at the Ministry of the Interior, noted that about 10,000 employees of the Ministry are daily involved in anti-pandemic activities. The citizens who enter Moldova continue to mandatorily fill out the epidemiological forms. The persons older than 63 are recommended not to leave home, if only in emergencies. Groups larger than three persons should not be present in public places. The people should report related violations to the police.
Vladislav Cotici, who heads the National Food Safety Agency, said that over 200 irregularities were identified at markets during inspections, but the business entities primarily obey the imposed measures. There are 104 authorized food markets in Moldova.
