Recommendations of EU officials who visited Moldova

The EU Senior Officials who visited Moldova recently in preparation of the next Association Council in Brussels identified a number of particular priorities, including rapid conclusion of an Agreement with the International Monetary Fund, the reform of the Banking Sector and a thorough and impartial investigation leading to prosecution of those responsible for fraud, IPN reports.

According to a press release of the EU Delegation to Moldova, following the Council Conclusions of  February15, 2016, Christian Danielsson, Director General of the European Commission for European Neighborhood Policy and Enlargement Negotiations, and Thomas Mayr-Harting, Managing Director of the European External Action Service, held meetings with the Moldovan authorities in Chisinau to discuss a priority reform action roadmap and prepare the Association Council between Moldova and the European Union to be held in Brussels.

The European officials stressed the importance of the Government urgently committing to clear deadlines for rapid implementation of the individual priority actions for review at the Association Council.

Among other areas identified as particular priorities in preparation of the Association Council are the adoption and implementation of key measures to tackle Corruption; reform of the Prosecution Service and of the Judicial Sector; implementation of Public Administration Reform, including a constructive dialogue with all stakeholders on the implementation of the Reform Roadmap.
