The beneficiaries of compensations for heat must confirm by an application that they earn less than 1,450 lei a month. Mayor of Chisinau Dorin Chirtoaca explained that the application is needed to confirm that the recipients still form part of the group of beneficiaries, Info-Prim Neo reports. According to the mayor, the families that want to be paid 40% of the heat bills for the 2010-2011 heating season must lodge an application showing their financial situation with the social assistance division by October 15. The compensations for heat in Chisinau have been paid since 2008. They are given to families with an income of under 1,450 lei per member. More than 20,000 families in Chisinau benefited from such assistance in the 2009-2010 heating season.
