The torrential rain of the last two days caused damage in 21 villages in the districts of Hâncești, Căușeni, Ialoveni, Criuleni, Ștefan Vodă and in ATU Găgăuzia. The rainwater damaged local roads on a length of 57 km. On July 7, a man aged 60 from Troița Nouă died when he was struck by lightning. The information was presented in the July 8 meeting of the Cabinet, IPN reports.
Minister of the Interior Pavel Voicu said the heavy rain accompanied by hail flooded 59 house yards, 27 gardens, three wells and a store. The hail damaged 120 ha of orchards, 23 ha of vineyards and 20 ha of corn. Water continues to be pumped out of yards, gardens and wells and the damaged road sections are being restored.
The minister noted that there are no risks of floods on the Prut and the Nistru Rivers and in accumulation lakes. Rescuers are fortifying the levees.
The local commissions for emergencies are assessing the extent of the done damage.
