Recent developments in Moldova discussed by MEPs

MEPs analyzed the recent developments in the Republic of Moldova and the relations between Moldova and the European Union. Dirk Schuebel, Head of the Division for Eastern Partnership at the European External Action Service and former EU Ambassador in Chisinau, presented a summary on the issue, IPN reports.

MEP Andi Cristea, who chaired the meeting of the European Parliament’s Delegation for the Republic of Moldova, said this was held in advance the meeting of the EU – Moldova Association Council that is to take place in Brussels between March 14 and 16.

The debates also involved the European Parliament Members who recently paid visits to Moldova – the European Parliament’s Rapporteur for Moldova Petras Austrevicius and the Head of the European Parliament’s Delegation to Euronest Heidi Hautala.

The meeting of the European Parliament’s Delegation for the Republic of Moldova is the first of the kind held after the voting in of the Filip Government. Next week debates will be staged within the European Parliament’s Committee on Foreign Affairs. These will be attended by Prime Minister Pavel Filip.
