The Romanian authorities want to cancel the requirement of having a receipt for 500 euros imposed on the Moldovans applying for visas for Romania. Discussions on this topic between Romania and Brussels could start in October, immediately after the constitution of the European Commission. The announcement was made by the chairman of the Romanian Senate's Foreign Policy Commission Titus Corlatean, who is in Chisinau on an official visit, Info-Prim Neo reports. Titus Corlatean voiced hope that Brussels will agree with Romania's proposal as a democratic and pro-European partnership was already established in Chisinau. Speaking about the stopping of worker migration from the East to the EU member states, the Romanian official said that “it is a fright that continues to be employed in the West at times”. “Many Moldovans went abroad and nothing dramatic happened. Those states did not collapse. It is a false problem,” he said. The Romanian official also said that the given issue was already discussed at the Foreign Ministry of Romania and will be raised in the Governments of the EU member states as well. “I cannot say an exact date, but I assure you that we will struggle for this initiative,” Titus Corlatean said, adding that the Swedish presidency of the EU assured Romania of its support.
