Ratio of women to men in Moldova is 100:93

The female population prevails in Moldova and the ratio of women to men currently stands at 100:93. Women live by almost eight years longer than men. Life expectancy at birth for women is 77 years, while for men is 69.4 years. The discrepancy is due to the higher premature death rate among men, especially those who are able to work, IPN repeats, quoting the National Bureau of Statistics.

The women aged between 25 and 64 have a training level higher than that of men. The widest discrepancy is in the case of higher education: 23.4% women and 18.0% men. The men leave the education system earlier than the women in order to start work.

The percentage of women in the working age population is almost equal to the percentage of working men and has been the same during the last few years: 50.5% men and 49.5% women.
