Works to kill rodents in 291 apartment buildings in Chisinau, on an area of 185,000 square meters, were carried out last week. According to the head of the General Public Amenities Division Ion Burdiumov, the incurred costs came to 150,000 lei, IPN reports.

In the ordinary meeting of officials of Chisinau services, Ion Burdiumov said that cleanup works were also executed last week and these daily involved 390 persons and 20 vehicles for transporting waste and five mini loaders. As a result, there were taken away 147 trucks of waste. By 50 persons cut grass daily. The works will continue this week.

The rat killing works in the basements of blocks will last until November and will cover the 3,500 apartment buildings of Chisinau. The business entity responsible for the given process said that it informs beforehand the block managers about the planned works and the protection measures that should be taken, especially with regard to the animals that are or live in the basement. They agree the date and hour of the works. The managers of apartment buildings also take measures to clean the basements, to wash the areas in which waste is collected, to remove the stagnant water and to ensure the operator’s access to the places where the works are to be executed. The dwellers are also notified of the projected works.
