President Nicolae Timofti signed a decree naming Oleg Melniciuc as president of the Rascani District Court of Chisinau for a four-year term, IPN reports, quoting a communiqué from the presidential press service.

Earlier, the head of state rejected this candidate, arguing he broke the Ethics Code for several times and caused conflicts of interests. But Oleg Melniciuc was put forward again by the Supreme Council of Magistrates. Under the law, the President is obliged to appoint the person if he/she is proposed by the Council the second time.

The press reported that Oleg Melniciuc is a relative of the president of the Supreme Court of Justice Mihai Poalelungi. Until recently, he worked as vice president of the Rascani District Court.
