Rankings of most active MPs during one year include only one opposition representative

From August 2023 to July 2024, both the number and the share of draft laws initiated by MPs decreased compared to the previous similar period, noted the Promo-LEX Association, which monitors the decision-making process in Parliament. The MPs of the ruling party are at the top of the list both in terms of the number and the rate of adoption of bills, IPN reports.

The parliamentary opposition, made up of the group of the Bloc of Communists and Socialists (BCS)  and of non-affiliated MPs, failed to promote any draft law signed exclusively by its members. However, there were situations in which the opposition's bills were adopted after they had been merged with the majority's initiatives.

Among the most active MPs as authors and co-authors on behalf of the PAS group are Igor Chiriac (19 draft laws), Veronica Roșca (18) and Lilian Carp (17). Tatiana Kunetski, of the BCS, is the only representative of the opposition who is among the most active bill sponsors. She signed 12 initiatives.

One aspect noted by Promo-LEX is the large number of individual bills registered by PAS MPs Alexandr Trubca (11) and Olesea Stamate (7). On the other hand, a number of BCS MPs or independents did not sign any draft law. At the same time, the number of legislative initiatives of the opposition decreased significantly compared to the beginning of the current legislature’s mandate.

The analysis shows that the most active MPs who proposed amendments are also the members of the PAS group, the list being headed by Radu Marian. Fyodor Gagauz is the only representative of the opposition on this list.
