Ramis Yunus: In launched world reorganization process, Moldova should make its interests known

Russia’s aggression against Ukraine launched processes similar to a World War III in terms of power and effect and, in an object way, a reorganization of the world should take place as a result. In this process, the Republic of Moldova should find its place and announce its interests, said U.S. political scientist Ramis Yunus.

“It happened so after World War I and World War II. In this new equation, such states as Ukraine, Moldova, Georgia, Azerbaijan should make known and promote their interests,” Ramis Yunus stated in an interview with Moldova 1 as part of the program “Diplomatic Dimension”.

Ramis Yunus noted that Ukraine acts correctly today. It focuses its attention on Euro-Atlantic integration, but steps up its cooperation with China, with states from Africa and Latin America.

“During these 30 years, the Collective West has had an unstable behavior: either good or bad. But in all the cases, the EU and the U.S. started from the own interests. That’s why Ukraine, Moldova, Georgia, Azerbaijan should also abide by their own interests, should calculate how profitable the interests of other states are for them. This pragmatism typical of such great powers as the U.S., the EU, China should become indispensable to Moldova, Ukraine, Georgia. You should realize that their interests need to coincide with your interests. There where they do not coincide, you should keep your distance and look for other partners, primarily in the immediate neighborhood,” stated Ramis Yunus.

As to a so-called “geopolitical revolution”, the expert said that the reorganization will take place rather with the participation of the U.S. and China, while Russia will be absent from this negotiating table.

“The presence of nuclear weapons is not a key trump card. In Yalta of 1945, there were two states that possessed nuclear weapons, but now there are eight or nine such countries. The number of nuclear countries can rise. Currently, they primarily take into account the volume of the GDP and then the level of military equipment. Only the U.S. and China are comparable here. If we calculate the U.S.’s GDP together with that of the allied states, G7, this will represent 65% of the global GDP. China holds 20%, while the rest of the world accounts for only 15%. So, a Yalta 2.0 can be achieved only together with China,” concluded Ramis Yunus.

According to the expert, in this reorganization of the world, all the international organizations, including the UN, which is now unable to cope with the goals and objectives for which it was founded, will be restructured or constituted again.
