More than 200 cars took part in a rally mounted in support of the Communist Party’s candidate for mayor of Chisinau Igor Dodon on June 12. According to the organizers, the number of participants in the event was higher than expected, Info-Prim Neo reports, quoting a communiqué from the candidate’s electoral staff. The column of vehicles of different makes, colors and size carrying flags and placards set off from the shopping center Everest (in Chisinau’s Ciocana district) and headed for the village Stauceni. The itinerary included a number of suburbs and districts of Chisinau. The rally ended in central Chisinau. “The event shows that our supporters are united,” said Igor Dodon, who also took part in the rally. His car was not ahead, but in the middle of the column. “It wasn’t my idea. My team put forward such a proposal. The participants in the race are ordinary people living in Chisinau, who came to show that they take an active part in the civic life. It is there event and they are the heroes,” added Igor Dodon.
