Rains foil plans for roadworks on Chisinau's Asachi Street
Recurring rains have ruined the plans of the road workers to start on Thursday repairing Gheorghe Asachi Street, Info-Prim Neo reports.
Chisinau's public transport and roadway chief Veaceslav Tarna has told Info-Prim Neo that the work will commence as soon as the weather gets better. Until that happens, vehicle traffic will remain unrestricted in this area, he added.
More details were offered by Lilian Copaci, a senior official at the municipal transport department. He said roadworks are currently in progress on portions where this is possible. Asphalting will be performed when the road is dry. And this is when vehicle traffic will be restricted.
At a City Hall meeting on June 16 it was said Gheorghe Asachi Street would be repaired following numerous complaints from residents. The roadworks are supposed to be performed on the portion between Docuchaev and Halippa streets.
