The scale miniature “Railroad Diorama” exhibition will be reopened to the public from March 29. Closed on December 31 last year for not being able to meet renting costs at the previous site on Vadul lui Voda Street, the impressive 100 sq.m. Diorama will be available at the Chisinau Railway Station.
The organizers said in a press release that the Diorama has been restored by rail transport modeling enthusiasts, including founders of the project, which is fully volunteer-based.
Besides model trains, the Diorama includes very detailed landscape such as wood-covered hills, bridges, buildings, viaducts, industrial zones and recreation areas. Miniature people can be seen waiting for the train, crossing a bridge or approaching the railway station. The Diorama even features sunrises and sunsets.
Moldova Railways spokesperson Eliza Botnari told IPN the company offered the organizers a partnership in order to help the Diorama survive.
The Diorama will be re-inaugurated at the central Railway Station at 4 p.m. on March 29.
