The Ministry of Transport and the police conducted inspections at the North Bus Station in Chisinau in the morning of September 15. The taxi drivers working in the vicinity of the station were checked and those without an authorization were penalized. As a result, three cabs remained without license plates, while six drivers were issued with contravention reports, IPN reports.

Deputy Minister of Transport Sergiu Bucataru expressed his optimism that the surprise inspections will significantly reduce the unauthorized transportation activities. He said that a working group was set up to identity solutions for improving the legal framework on transportation services provided by motor vehicles with up to eight seats.

Within the surprise inspections carried out at bus and minibus stations so far this year, the police drew up 560 contravention reports and withdrew 385 license plates for a period of 30 days.
