Radu Albot became the first Moldovan tennis player who qualified for the semifinals of a Grand Slam tournament. Albot and Malek Jaziri of Tunis reached the doubles semifinals of the US Open, IPN reports.
The Albot/Jaziri pair eliminated the British-Brazilian duo Jamie Murray/Bruno Soares, world No. 4, 7-5, 6-4. In the semifinals, the Moldovan-Tunisian pair meets the Polish-Brazilin duo Lukas Kubot/Marcelo Melo.
As they reached the semifinals, Albot and Jaziri won US$ 166,000 in prize money.
