Moldovan tennis player Radu Albot has qualified for the second round of the Wimbledon Grand Slam tournament. He beat Argentine’s Facundo Bagnis, world No. 107, in four sets, IPN reports.
The match that started in the evening of July 3 was interrupted after three sets because it was too late already. Albot was ahead after the three sets, 4-6, 6-4, 7-6. The match continued on July 4 and was won by the Moldovan. The 27-year-old player won one more set by 7-6 and qualified for the second round of Wimbledon for the second time in his career.
At the next stage, Albot faces American player Steve Johnson, who occupies the 31rd spot in the ATP rankings. In the first round, Johnson defeated Argentine’s Nicolas Kicker 6-4, 7-5, 6-3.
In the other three Grand Slam tournaments - Australian Open, Roland Garros and US Open - Radu Albot was eliminated in the first round.
