Moldova’s best tennis player Radu Albot went through to the second qualifying round of the Grand Slam tournament Australian Open. He easily beat Belgium’s Niels Desein, who is the 205th in the ATP rankings, by 6-3, 6-2, IPN reports.
In the next round, Albot will play against the winner of the match between Matthias Bachinger of Germany and Austria’s Matthew Ebden. In order to qualify for the final of the tournament, Radu Albot must win three matches in the qualifying rounds. The Moldovan tennis player is taking part in the qualifying competition of Australian Open for the fourth consecutive time. In 2012 and 2013, he was eliminated in the second qualifying round.
The tournament in Melbourne is considered one of the most powerful and valuable in the Grand Slam series alongside Roland Garros of France, Wimbledon of the UK, and US Open of the United States.
