Moldovan tennis player Radu Albot didn’t manage to qualify for the second round of the Australian Open. The 27-year-old player lost to Argentine’s Carlos Berlocq in a balanced match of four sets, IPN reports.
Berlocq, who is three positions higher in the ATP rankings than Albot, won two sets on a tiebreak, with the final scoreline of 4-6, 6-7, 7-5, 6-7. Radu Albot, who takes the 98th position in the ATP rankings, competed in singles in the Grand Slam competition of Australia for the first time.
Albot is the only Moldovan tennis player who took part in all the existing Grand Slam tournaments. Last summer, he became the first tennis player of Moldova who qualified for the Rio Olympics.
