Radio Moldova starts second round of electoral debates

On February 18, the public radio station Radio Moldova begins the second round of electoral debates. The participants will present their electoral programs, will respond to moderators’ questions and will be able to make replies from Monday through Friday, starting at 7:15pm, IPN reports.

According to Vasile Mija, head of the editorial office “Debates, documentaries, co-production and investigations”, in the first round the contenders were receptive to the invitation to take part in the debates and showed calmness and rationality in these. In the programs, the participants discussed solutions to social and political problems, the separation of powers in the state, corruption fighting, international cooperation and other issues of interest.

Vasile Mija noted the debates organized on the public radio station contribute to the informing of the population about the electoral platforms of candidates so that the people could make a correct choice in the first round as there is no second round of voting. He called on the listeners to follow the debates as this will help them to better inform themselves.

The programs will be moderated by journalists Tatiana Fisher and Veronica Mungiu. They are produced in partnership with “Promo-LEX” Association as part of the Program “Democracy, Transparency and Responsibility”. The debates could be followed live on trm.md.

Also from February 18, when the last week of the election campaign starts, Radio Moldova will allot free by 10 minutes of airtime to each participant in the national consultative referendum of February 24. The division “Rostrum of the electoral contender” starts at 11:.40am.There, the competitors will provide arguments for and against the reduction in the number of MPs and the recalling of MPs who do not appropriately fulfil their duties.
