Radio Moldova marks 80th anniversary

“The challenges that lie ahead – improving team’s professionalism, the diversity of productions and upgrading the equipment, will make us more competitive on the media market and help us remain top of the pile”, Radio Moldova director Alexandru Dorogan told Info-Prim Neo, on the occasion of institution’s 80th anniversary.
According to Dorogan, Radio Moldova has always played an important role in people’s lives and has become more than a source of information, but an institution that promotes goodness and beauty, that brings arts and culture in people’s lives. It is here where Moldova’s golden voices have accomplished: Igor Rotaru, Afanasie Grom, Claudia Polerca, Valentina Craciunescu, Tamara Berzoi and Vera Mereuta as well as other younger radio announcers. Besides, artists such as Vanda Zadnipru, Ala Cupcea, Ludmila Cemortan and Gheorghe Danu represent institution’s pride.
Event in darkest times, Radio Moldova made available works that couldn’t be published in magazines or staged in theaters because of censorship. At Radio Moldova, people could listen to folklore masterpieces and singers like Tamara Ceban, Ecaterina Butac, Valentina Cojocaru, Dumitru Blajinu, Petre Neamtu and others, helped by sound directors Petru Sarbu, Boris Caraniculov, Victor Bocicovar, the Radio Moldova director has mentioned.
Alexandru Dorogan, who headed the institution before and after Moldova’s independence, says Radio Moldova has always represented nation’s voice and after the independence has served the public interest.
Speaker and interim President of Moldova, Mihai Ghimpu, has said during the ceremony that Radio Moldova had an important role in the process of country’s national renaissance, being one of liberation movement’s forts. “All of our messages to the people have been broadcasted through radio. And the only one with national coverage was Radio Moldova, which became our speaker”, the president said.
Prime Minister Vlad Filat attended the festivity as well. He thanked the staff and all those working to inform people, but mentioned a journalist should always verify the information and present it impartially. Filat said he hoped the technological upgrade of the institution was successfully carried out and Radio Moldova would become more competitive.
