Radio briefs listeners on its lawsuit
The founders of the “Vocea Basarabiei” radio station, on Tuesday, March 4, gave a live news conference to its listeners informing them on the last developments in the lawsuit against it.
Valeriu Saharneanu has told Info-Prim Neo he had informed listeners that the prosecutor’s office’s ordinance was modified. Initially it provided for operating a thematic checkup, now it provides for a general checkup. He says, from the legal point of view, the ordinance is illiterate and it pursues to curb the work of “Vocea Basarabiei.” “Obviously it is done on someone’s order,” the co-founder said.
According to Saharneanu, all the listeners have said they need the station and will stand up to support it, if needed.
According to the station’s founders, on December 20, 2007, the General Prosecutor’s Office started a penal inquest on reason that “Vocea Basarabiei” would air “public calls to overthrow or to violently change the constitutional regime.” Also the station is accused of fraudulently appropriating money. The founders qualify the accusations as groundless, ordered by the present country leadership.
