The Zaporozhe nuclear power plant wasn’t damaged as a result of the fire and there is no danger for the Republic of Moldova. The shelling affected the administrative building of the plant, not yet the nuclear reactors, Alexandru Oprea, the head of the General Inspectorate for Emergency Situations, stated in a press briefing.

He noted that the radiation levels on the territory of the Republic of Moldova are now within the norm.

Alexandru Oprea called on the population not to consume iodine in an uncontrolled way as this can bring more damage than benefits.
