The villages Cișmichioi and Etulia of Vulcănești district were placed in quarantine as of April 25, under a decision taken by the Commission for Exceptional Situations, IPN reports, quoting a press release of the Ministry of Defense.
The Ministry said teams of soldiers were deployed in the two villages that will monitor and supervise the movement of locals and motor vehicles, alongside police officers. There were set up fixed control points at the entrances and exits of the two localities so as to monitor traffic.
“Dear residents of the villages in quarantine, I ask you to show respect for our service members and comply with the restrictions imposed by the authorities. We need support and understanding so that we could together overcome this difficult period. The soldiers work there for you and your dear ones,” said Minister of Defense Alexandru Pînzari.
The following localities are currently in quarantine: Talmaza, Carahasani, Ștefan Vodă, Soroca, Glodeni, and Brînzeni of Edineț district and Etulia and Cișmichioi of Vulcănești district.
A state of emergency was declared in Moldova until May 15. The number of confirmed infections with COVID-19 now stands at 3,110. The infectious disease caused 87 deaths in Moldova so far.
