Quality infrastructure institutions to decrease tariffs on their services

The institutional reform in the area of quality infrastructure was completed successfully and will bring a number of benefits to companies as the tariffs on the provided services will be reduced, Deputy Minister of Economy Octavian Calmic said in a meeting of the commission for reorganizing the National Institute of Standardization and Metrology, IPN reports.

According to the official, the list of services provided for money by the institutions of the business environment quality infrastructure was cut. The economic entities will benefit from a number of gratis services, whose costs will be covered from the state budget. The charges on services provided for money will be reasonable. The Economy Ministry finished drafting the methodology for calculating the future tariffs and will present it to the Government for approval.

The Economy Ministry launched the institutional reform in the area of quality infrastructure in 2012. Two separate public entities were created instead of the state-run National Institute of Standardization and Metrology – the National Standardization Institute and the National Metrology Institute. Also, the Balti Standardization and Metrology Center was merged with the Ceadir-Lunga Standardization and Metrology Center and some of the divisions of the National Institute of Standardization and Metrology. As a result, there was founded the Center of Applied Metrology and Certification that has the status of state-owned enterprise.
