Pushkin St in Comrat reconstructed with Germany’s support

The roadway and sidewalks of A. Pushkin St in Comrat town were repaired within the framework of a project to the value of over €100,000 that was supported by the Federal Republic of Germany. There were also installed benches and revamped the rooms of the Regional Touristic Center, IPN reports.

In the inaugural event, Mayor Sergey Anastasov said that Pushkin St is strategic for the town and its reconstruction will increase its tourist attractiveness. The street leads to the university, to two kindergartens and to the polyclinic.

Germany’s Ambassador to Moldova Angela Ganninger said the project is important for all the guests and residents of Comrat, especially for people who live on Pushkin St as they now can easier get to the important institutions situated on this street.

The ambassador noted that this is one of the social infrastructure and energy efficiency projects supported by Germany in over 200 settlements in Moldova. More than €12 million has been invested so far. There were repaired schools and kindergartens and built water supply systems and sidewalks. “Starting with 1991, Germany has offered the Republic of Moldova more than €300 million in assistance. With this support, we aim to contribute to improving the life of the country’s citizens,” stated Angela Ganninger.

The project to reconstruct A. Pushkin St in Comrat cost over 8 million lei, 4 million lei of which represents Germany’s contribution. 2.3 million lei was provided by the EU through the ProjectSupport to Local Public Authorities in ATU Gagauzia (SLPA), while 1.8 million lei was allocated by the Executive Committee of Gagauzia.
