Pumpkin festival Bostaniada awaits visitors

This Sunday, October 28, Lozova village will become a point of interest for farmers and tourists. The village will host the first pumpkin festival Bostaniada, which promotes the pumpkin culture and the quality of local food products, either fresh or cooked. Ion Ciocan, one of the organizers of the festival, told Info-Prim Neo that in the old times the pumpkin was appreciated more, but its special nutritive qualities have been forgotten. That’s why the farmers decided to organize a festive event to bring the pumpkin back into the spotlight. He said that few farmers in Moldova planted pumpkins on large areas, but this product was in demand abroad. The farmers have markets in Russia, Bulgaria, Germany, but less so in Moldova. “It’s a unique culture. Now, there are many unhealthy foods, but we published a book with all the pumpkin recipes. This culture has a future, as it requires only low production costs”, said Ciocan. The organizer said that this year’s festival will include stands for the sale of pumpkin dishes and of the cooking book “The Wonder Pumpkin”. The surprise of the festival will be a pumpkin soup cooked on a bonfire and all the visitors will get to taste it. So far, several groups of tourists from Germany, Romania and other countries announced their desire to attend the first edition of the festival. Beside pumpkin dishes, the visitors will enjoy a concert, a fair of traditional household tools, of textiles and clothing, as well as craftsmanship workshops. The event will take place on Sunday, October 28, between 12 AM and 6 PM, in the center of the village.
