Publika TV becomes affiliate of CNN International
The private TV channel Publika TV became an affiliate station of CNN International. The agreement was signed between Stiri Media and Turner Broadcasting, CNN’s parent company, and provides Publika TV with a range of video and newsgathering resources from the leading international news provider, including live breaking news and news stories. As part of the deal, CNN gets access to Publika TV’s reporting from Moldova, Info-Prim Neo reports, quoting a press release from Publika TV.
”This agreement will allow our viewers to be informed in real time about what is happening all around the world, by broadcasting news and stories from CNN. We are confident that we will become more attractive for viewers in Moldova, who are interested in following unbiased news,” said Publika TV CEO Dumitru Tira.
“Publika TV, the first TV station from Moldova specializing in news programs, aims to invest more in know-how, in the content of the programs, in trainings for reporters and correspondents, for a higher professional standard of the whole station. The new affiliation with CNN supports this goal,” he added.
“This agreement signals our ongoing commitment to developing the CNN affiliate business and expanding our reach into the dynamic Eastern European region,” said Maggie Eales, SVP CNN International, for Turner Broadcasting.
Publika TV was launched on April 7, 2010 and has expanded its distribution exponentially. Now, the TV station is broadcast through all cable operators and is received through ether on 75% of the country. The TV station also has agreements with cable operators from Romania.
