Public transit schedules will get tighter from September 1
Once the school year starts on September 1 and holidaymakers return to work, trolleys and buses in the city will follow tighter schedules, as the municipality promises preciseness in the operating hours of the public transport.
The manager of the Electric Bus Company (EBC), Gheorghe Morgoci, has told a City Hall meeting on Monday that by the end of this week the Austrian company Epa Media is to complete works on public transport planning for Chisinau.
Mayor Dorin Chirtoaca instructed the EBC to be as precise as possible in scheduling the routes. Chirtoaca expressed his concern about the behavior of some drivers who dare to insult passengers and throw cigarette stubs out of the window. The administration of the newly launched bus route 122 was also admonished – according to the mayor, the staff haven't been properly uniformed yet, while the passengers are troubled with music singing inside the bus.
Public Transport Dept. chief Veaceslav Tarna confirmed that cases of inappropriate behavior among drivers have grown in number lately, which requires “tougher measures”. Chirtoaca suggested that these measures should go as far as to sackings.
