Public Services Agency encourages voters to check validity of IDs before elections

The Public Services Agency is encouraging eligible voters to make sure their IDs are not expired when the time comes to vote in the general local elections on November 5.

If the identity documents are no longer valid or are about to expire, they can be renewed at any of the Agency’s multifunctional centers, regardless of the applicant’s place of domicile or temporary residence, the Agency notes.

To renew an identity card (buletin), applicants will need the expired document and their civil status documents, such as birth certificate, marriage certificate or divorce certificate. The latter are not necessary if there has been no change in the applicant’s civil status and personal data since the last identity document.

Also, relevant documents will be required when changing one’s address for voting purposes. Showing a home ownership certificate is not required if the Agency can check this up in the digital Real Estate Register.

Proof of payment of issuance fees is also mandatory.

If the applicants are abroad, they will have to go to the respective Moldovan diplomatic missions or consular offices for renewing their IDs.
