Public sector salaries will increase by 1,300 lei next year. At the same time, a minimum salary of 4,000 lei will be established for 2023, announced Prime Minister Natalia Gavrilița in a press conference held after today’s Government meeting.
“We decided to make this increase equal for everyone so that those with lower salaries receive more in percentage terms. In this crisis situation we are not increasing the reference value for all, as this would mean higher increases for some. We are increasing everyone’s salaries by the same amount,” said the prime minister.
Those with lower salaries, for example a cook who has a gross salary of 4,169 lei, will receive 5,469 lei from January 1, Gavrilița exemplified. A medical assistant with a gross salary of 8,776 lei will get 10,076 lei, and a teacher with a gross salary of 8,787 lei will get 10,087 lei.
“This increase will also benefit some employees from self-managed public institutions that do not have their own financial resources to supplement their employees’ incomes. We are talking in particular about education institutions, such as vocational schools, or cultural institutions, like theaters, for example”, the prime minister said.
