Public Procurement Register to be launched by end of this year
The Public Procurement Register will be launched by the end of 2011, announced Stefan Creanga, the director of the Public Procurement Agency, at a program on Radio Moldova.
Stefan Creanga argued that the automation of the public procurement procedures would help to reduce subjective factors, eliminate corruption factors and facilitate the participation of a much larger number of bidders.
As part of a technical assistance project funded by UNDP, two experts will provide the consulting needed to launch electronic procurement activities and to manage statistical data in this area.
Stefan Creanga also said that another priority for the Public Procurement Agency was to reduce the number of the procurement-related procedures. In addition, the Agency is to update the Guidelines on procurement training in light of the recent legislative amendments in this area.
In 2010 the total value of public procurement deals stood at 5.64 billion lei, by almost 1 billion lei more than in 2009. Most public procurements were contracted through open procedures.
