The public order on New Year’s Eve will be maintained by 4,000 police officers. The persons under the influence of alcohol, with dangerous objects and firearms will not have access to the festivities in the Great National Assembly Square, Info-Prim Neo reports. The head of the Ministry of the Interior’s Public Order Division Marin Maxian told a news conference that during the concert that will be given in Chisinau’s central square the policemen will form a human chain. There will be four to nine filters through which the people will be able to get to the stage. Those who will come to the concert will be checked with metal detectors. The number of patrols and of operative reaction teams at every police subdivision will be doubled. On New Year’s Eve, the sale of all types of alcoholic beverages will be banned. The people who go on vacation are advised not to leave the houses and vehicles without supervision. Sergiu Armasu, head of the Traffic Police Division, said the section of Stefan cel Mare Blvd. between the streets Pushkin and Banulescu-Bodoni will be closed for traffic on New Year’s Eve. The units of transport will be diverted to adjacent roads. Sergiu Armasu also said that the number of mobile traffic police teams will be doubled during the winter holidays all over the country. Police cars will accompany the children on trips during the vacation. This year, the budget-funded employees will rest only on December 31 and January 1, while on Monday, January 2, will return to work. The Government will allocate 1.2 million lei for organizing the New Year festivities in the Great National Assembly Square.
