The public illumination system on Calea Ieșilor St in Chisinau was inaugurated on April 9 after renovation. This is the tenth of the ten streets where public lighting had been repaired since last December, IPN reports.
Acting mayor general of Chisinau Ruslan Codreanu told a news conference given at the scene that during five months they managed to install LED devices on over 27 km of street lighting. The LED devices will help save about 50% of the consumed electric power. The saved money will be used to perform other lighting modernization works.
Until now, public lighting was rehabilitated on Alba-Iulia St, Moscova Blvd, Kiev St, Dacia Blvd. (viaduct), Ciuflea St, Budești 2 sector, Șoseaua Muncești St, Calea Moșilor St and Mircea cel Bătrân Blvd. The costs associated with the rehabilitation of lighting on the ten arteries and in several parks amounted to 25 million lei.
Ruslan Codreanu said the modernization of street lighting is one of his priorities as the citizens of Chisinau should enjoy comfort and safety. There are about 890 km of street lighting in the capital city and they are now discussing the concession of street illumination with business entities that are ready to invest in this.
The modernization of lighting in the yards of apartment buildings will start in the immediate period.
