Parliament adopted the bill to supplement the Law on the Administration and Denationalization of Public Property in the first reading on May 25. Under the passed amendments, the public medial institutions could not be privatized. One of the authors of the bill, Liberal MP Lilian Carp, said the necessity of amending the law results from the latest tendencies to close medical institutions with the aim of privatizing them later, IPN reports.
The bill covers 29 hospitals that cannot be privatized. Among these are the National Clinical Hospital, the Infectious Diseases Hospital “Toma Ciorba”, the Mother and Child Institute, the Municipal Clinical Hospital “Valentin Ignatenko” and others.
“The list of hospitals should be extended so that we do not allow someone to pursue their economic goals,” said Lilian Carp. Other MPs asked that all the public medical institutions should be included in the list given that the annex to the bill contained only the hospitals of Chisinau municipality.
