The National Extraordinary Public Health Commission recommends the Ministry of Education and Research to consider the possibility of extending for a week the autumn vacation of students in the communities put on red alert, IPN reports.
The Commission adopted a decision saying the vacation should be extended until November 7 for primary and secondary schools and lyceums in ‘red alert’ villages and towns.
By the same decision, the Commission extended the state of public health emergency until November 30 inclusive. The authorities make reference to the worsening of the epidemiological indicators. There are 14,200 active cases of COVID-19 in Moldova at present. The incidence rate the past seven days was 308 cases per 100,000 persons, an increase of 16% compared with a week before. The COVID-19 mortality rate the past seven days was 6.9 deaths per 100,000 people, up 18% compared with a week before and up 156% compared with a month before.
The autumn vacation of school students planned for October 27-31 started earlier, on October 23, following the worsening of the epidemiological situation that required taking measures to limit the spread of the infection.
