For 2021, the World Blood Donor Day slogan is “Give blood and keep the world-beating”. The message highlights the essential contribution blood donors make to keeping the world pulsating by saving lives and improving others’ health. On the occasion of World Blood Donor Day that is celebrated on June 14, the Ministry of Health, Labor and Social Protection staged an event in the central park of Chisinau to raise awareness and encourage the public to donate blood and to become involved in social responsibility events, IPN reports.
Attending the event, secretary of state at the Ministry Tatiana Zatîc said the donation of blood helps to save lives and shows care for the suffering people from the community, who urgently need blood. “On the occasion of World Blood Donor Day, we sincerely thank and show our gratitude to all the regular blood donors in the Republic of Moldova and encourage other persons to take part in voluntary blood donation,” stated Tatiana Zatîc.
The nationwide campaign to promote the donation of blood among the population is conducted between May 25 and June 25. The people are encouraged to donate blood at blood collection units all over the country according to the set program. As many as 5,170 persons voluntarily donated blood since the start of the campaign. In 2020, the voluntary donors totaled 62,849.
