Public broadcaster claims it was not partisan in election race

During the race of the July 29 parliamentary elections, the public company “Teleradio Moldova” did not make political partisanship, neither propaganda for any political party – this is the conclusion of an internal monitoring report, presented to its Supervisory Board (Observers Council) on August 6, Info-Prim Neo reports. The monitoring stressed on the the news and debates – on frequency and duration. The monitors watched the news program “Mesager” on the television Moldova1 and Radio Matinal, Novosti and Panorama on Radio Moldova, said chief monitor Dumitru Turcanu. According to its own report, Moldova 1 hosted 32 debates attended by all the electoral participants. The PNL and MAE withdrew from the race. The PCRM missed a debate. All in all, the opposition parties had 46,800 seconds of debates, and the PCRM – 5,040 seconds. In “Mesager”, the PCRM had a frequency of 192 appearances, while the parliamentary opposition – 260, of which the PLDM – 110, the PL – 81 and the AMN – 62. Taking into account the 'three thirds rule', which provides for equal presence of the Government, the ruling party and the opposition parties, the structure was as follows on Moldova 1 during the race: the Government – 5,678 sec, the PCRM – 14,770, the opposition parties – 60,082, reads the report. The radio hosted 32 debates. Some of them were not attended by some electoral contestants (the PDM missed 2 programs, the PCRM – 1). The balance of the ruling and the opposition parties in the debates was as follows: the PCRM – 5,040, the opposition parties – 45,360. The public broadcaster specifies that the difference between its internal monitoring report and the ones presented by some NGOs is big and it supposes there are errors and certain interests behind the latter ones' monitoring reports.
