Public authorities and companies will store information about plants growing on territory administered by them
Information about the species of plants, algae, lichens and mushrooms that grow in natural habitat and about rare or protected species will be stored in an electronic register called the Electronic Flora Cadastre, Info-Prim Neo reports.
Under the regulations concerning the keeping of the Electronic Flora Cadastre approved by the Government, the information will be collected by: agricultural companies (on the agricultural land), forestry companies (on the lands of the forestry fund), the local public authorities (on the public property lands of the land fund) and the Academy of Sciences of Moldova (all over Moldova, for rare, vulnerable and protected species).
The keeping of the register includes collection of information about the flora and writing of passports for the plants. The Academy of Sciences will make an assessment on the field at least once in 10 years and will collect information about the spatial distribution of the plans, areas occupied, composition, quality and state.
The database will be kept by the Institute of Ecology and Geography of the Academy of Sciences, which will update and present it annually to the Ministry of Ecology and Natural Resources and other relevant authorities.
The Government considers that the data of the cadastre will serve as a basis for monitoring the development of flora, as a stimulus for preserving rare species and as a record for the scientific workers and amateur botanists that want to thoroughly study the flora of Moldova.
