Public and commercial buildings will limit indoor lighting by at least 30%. CSE decision

Authorities have approved an action plan to save energy in the event of a crisis. To reduce energy consumption, from January 1, 2025, managers of public buildings and commercial establishments will limit interior lighting in buildings by at least 30%. The set of measures was approved by the Commission for Exceptional Situations, IPN reports.

Enterprises with energy-intensive production processes will organize their working hours so that the processes in which most of the electricity is used are carried out outside peak hours 07.00-11.00 and 18.00-23.00.

Also during peak hours, it is recommended that elevators should not be used to avoid blocking them in motion.

Water supply and sewage managers will adjust the operation of reservoir pumps to minimize electricity consumption during peak hours.

Moldova has been in a state of emergency since December 16. As of January 1, it risks facing an electricity shortage as the Cuciurgan power plant will reduce its output due to the cessation of Russian gas supplies to the Transnistrian region.
