Public Amenities Division launches tender contest to have outbred pets sterilized

The Public Amenities Division has announced a tender contest to choose a veterinary clinic that will provide services to sterilize, vaccinate and microchip outbred pets in the municipality of Chisinau. As many as 1,000 dogs and 1,000 cats with an owner will be neutered in the framework of this project this year.

Karl Luganov, acting head of the Division’s Animal Protection Unit, has told IPN that the goal of the project is to prevent the uncontrolled breeding of cats and dogs.

By March 4, representatives of veterinary clinics that want to take part in the tender contest will be able to put questions and to formulate proposals concerning the holding of the contest. Bids will be submitted during March 4-16.

According to Karl Luganov, there will be selected the clinic that will propose the lowest prices. If several clinics offer the same price, the clinic that submitted the application to take part in the contest the first will be declared winner.

To have their pets sterilized, the owners will have to fill out an electronic questionnaire. The winning veterinary clinic will sterilize the animals, vaccine them against rabies, microchip them and issue them with pet passports. A person who has more pets will be able to have at most two pets neutered as part of the project.

A sum of 1.169 million lei was earmarked in the 2022 municipal budget for implementing the project.
