Public Amenities Division and ACC start checking water meters
The Public Amenities Division and SA “Apa-Canal Chisinau” (ACC) started to examine the water meters in apartments, Info-Prim Neo reports.
According to the head of the ACC Customer Service Ion Constantinov, the inspectors will check how the water meters had been installed and how the technical installation conditions had been observed and determine their working period.
The water meters must be examined once in five years. They must meet the conditions stipulated in the State Register of the Standardization and Metrology Service.
The examination results will be used as basis in the process of providing water and sewerage services, the ACC official said.
The Public Amenities Division submitted a draft decision regarding the tariffs for using water meters in apartments and private houses to the Chisinau Municipal Council for examination and approval. Under the draft decision, the housing sector administrator, the ACC or another service provider have the right to sign private contracts for the installation and service of meters with the consumers. The services will be paid according to the tariff approved by the CMC.
If the meter becomes nonfunctional through the consumer’s fault, the administrator or the supplier must carry out the necessary repair works within 60 days. The expenses are covered by the consumer, the draft decision says.
According to the ACC, the losses resulting from the difference in the volumes registered by the water meters in apartments and those from the branch pipe amount to about 200 million lei. Therefore, all the water meters in Chisinau will be checked.
